I'm Susan!I grew up in West Lafayette, IN, as the only child of two doting parents, Herb and Ruth Krauch. After attending Purdue University, where I was active in Zeta Tau Alpha, I started my career in promotions, followed by the Alumni Publications Director for IUPUI. I left higher education briefly to work in tourism as an advertising and promotions coordinator at a corporate Indy hotel. I then got my dream job working back in West Lafayette with the Purdue Alumnus magazine. 4 months after I started back at Purdue, I met my God-given partner, Terry, and we were engaged within 4 months. I then did something I swore I would never do. Marry a farmer and move to a full-time working farm. I don't like dirt, and I certainly don't like manure. My life changed quite overnight, and suddenly I was writing about agriculture. Since then, I have written for numerous newspapers and agriculture magazines. I currently write for the Indiana Corn and Soybean Post, and for Indiana Prairie Farmer magazine where my monthly farm wife humor column, “Hayhurst’s Hayloft,” is featured.
Fast forward- I’m still living the farm life near Terre Haute, Indiana, and am serving on the Wabash Valley Youth for Christ board. I thoroughly enjoy my church and small group bible study. I’m thrilled to announce the publication of my new book, “Growing the Fruit of the Spirit: 100 Devotions for Farm Families,” with coauthor Beth Gormong. Terry and I have 2 daughters, Lillian and Hayley. Lillian loves being involved on the farm with her husband, Kegan, step-daughter Kaelynn, cows, corgis, and new baby Amelia. Hayley lives in London and works freelance as a tailor and loves traveling. Terry is also involved in church, has a weekly mens group, and enjoys our cows and farming our crops, as well as many leadership organizations within agriculture. I'm a farm wife work in progress. |
