Hi there! I'm Susan.Welcome to my life on the farm! I’m a forever farm-wife-work-in-progress understanding why my farmer husband, Terry, chooses to rise so early, and why equipment always breaks down at the worst possible time. Raised as a city girl and marrying a farmer provides endless fodder for my monthly farm wife humor column, “Hayhurst’s Hayloft” in Indiana Prairie Farmer magazine. While I wish there had been a Farm Wife 101 manual for me to memorize, I’ve learned to bloom where I’m planted.
I love to dote on Terry, shop with our adult daughters Lillian and Hayley, spoil my SIL Kegan, snuggle our infant granddaughter Amelia, and encourage our granddaughter, Kaelynn, in her cooking and artistic pursuits. Hayhurst Farms is a fourth generation operation in west central Indiana where we raise Polled Hereford cattle, and corn and soybeans. My passions are to pursue Jesus’s purpose for me daily, be a prayer warrior for family and friends, and write all the books swirling in my head. |
